What is PT-141?

Bremelanotide, or PT-141, is the generic name for a research peptide being examined for its potential application in aiding the improvement of sexual dysfunction.

The peptide hormone alpha-Melanocyte stimulating hormone, which is naturally generated in the body and induces melanogenesis, served as the basis for the development of PT-141, a synthetically synthesized variation of the tanning peptide Melanotan 2. To have its desired impact, MSH stimulates specific melanocortin receptors.
